Plans & billing

Design free. Pay for the deliverables.

Design free, pay for the deliverables

Every plan has the whole design workspace: unlimited estates and devices, racks, topology, cabling, power, design review, version history and the raw project file. What you pay for is handing the design over — the deliverables — and working on it as a team. Prices are in GBP and exclude VAT.

Pro and the Project Pass are for a personal space; Team and Partner are for a shared organisation. Team includes 5 editors, with each additional editor at £35 a month or £350 a year, and starts with a 14-day trial. Viewers are free on every plan. An annual price is ten monthly payments. Partner has no online checkout: talk to us to set it up. These Partner features are coming soon and are not available yet:

  • Separate client workspaces
  • Branded build packs
  • Transfer a project to a client organisation

Deliverables

Deliverables are the files you hand to someone else, each generated from the saved design:

  • Build pack PDF
  • Cable schedule
  • Cable and rack labels
  • Power schedule
  • Power report
  • NetBox bulk-import bundle
  • Nautobot bulk-import bundle

Nautobot Design Builder YAML counts as part of the Nautobot bundle, and rack QR labels as labels. Community can open a build pack preview of one rack, watermarked. The raw project file (Railyard JSON) is not a deliverable: downloading it, importing it, /api/export?format=json and the MCP tools that read and write projects are free on every plan. See Export for each output.

Project Pass

A Project Pass is a one-off payment of £149 that unlocks every deliverable for one estate for 6 months, and raises that estate's limit to 100 racks. Nothing renews. It belongs to the estate it was bought for, in your personal space, and has one editor.

You can buy one from the estate when your personal space is on a plan without deliverables, the estate has no active pass, and it has no more than 100 racks. Only the owner of the personal space can buy it, in a browser. A refunded pass ends straight away. When a pass ends the estate stays fully editable and its project file stays free to download; only its deliverables stop.

Rack limits

Rack limits are per estate (project), not per account: 25 on Community, 100 with a Project Pass, 100 on Pro, 500 on Team and 1,000 on Partner. A limit only stops an estate growing past it. It never deletes or hides anything: an estate already over its limit stays editable and can shrink. Editor places work the same way.

Exporting an estate's deliverables also needs its rack count within the limit, so a Project Pass cannot export an estate of more than 100 racks.

When a plan ends

If a paid plan lapses, is cancelled or expires, the organisation falls back to Community's rules. Nothing is deleted, hidden or made read-only: everyone keeps full design access and the raw project file. Deliverables stop, and so does creating new branches and merge requests, until you renew, upgrade or buy a Project Pass. Community's rack limit applies to growth from then on.

Buying and managing a plan

An organisation's owner subscribes from Billing in its settings: Pro for a personal space, Team for a shared organisation. Checkout and the billing portal are run by Stripe and need a browser session. Any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay. If a deployment has not opened paid checkout yet, its pages say so and Community stays available.

Self-hosted starts from £3,900 a year for up to 5 editors and 500 racks per estate (larger by quote) and is agreed with our sales team, not bought online. A self-hosted server, like any server running with billing turned off, unlocks every feature and deliverable and applies no plan limits. To check a plan from a script, see API & MCP.
